Art Gallery of Bancroft

The Art Gallery of Bancroft (AGB) is a public art gallery in the town of Bancroft, Ontario, Canada.  The AGB boasts a permanent collection including a large collection of Oscar Schlienger's work. The AGB Gallery Shop displays work from the area's artists and artisans and exhibitions from local art and craft associations.

Operated by  volunteers and financed by fundraising, the AGB mounts 10 exhibitions per year focusing on local  artists.  Every month the Gallery presents new shows, which include the annual "Invitation - Juried Exhibition".  Exhibition proposals are accepted for the Dec 21 and June 21 deadlines.

In encouraging public participation in the visual arts, the Gallery runs a slate of workshops (mostly one-day sessions) throughout the year with talented instructors teaching skills in a variety of artistic media.

New members are always welcome!

Art Gallery is Recipient of two Major Donations!

On Monday September 21, the Art Gallery was presented with a donation of $1,000 from the Baptiste Lake Yoga Group (BLYG).   that was further matched by an additional gift of $1,000 from an anonymous donor.  Each year, at summer’s end, the Yoga Group allocates the fees collected from the classes to a local charitable organization. Previous recipients of the BLYG’s donations include the North Hastings Fish Hatchery, Kids In Need, the Bancroft Hospital, and the volunteer training program of the Village Playhouse..  Hugh Monteith, President of the Art Gallery received a presentation cheque in the amount of $2,000 from Susan Latremoille, representing the BLYG and the anonymous donor.

AGB Spearheads New Community Art Initiative!

Following the success of the two community art murals created at last year’s Culture Days weekend, we are excited to share with you a similar project to help fight the COVID blues and to beautify our Town of Bancroft at the same time.  There is a lot of empty space on the fencing surrounding the former Victorian Lady site, facing Hastings Street, where the Culture Days community art murals are residing.  The owners of the site are very enthusiastic about having more art on the fencing.  So, we are now encouraging you to create your own smaller mural to be mounted on the fence as well!

This effort is meant to encourage people of all levels of artistic talent, not just “professional“ artists.  We did this very successfully with last year’s Culture Days community art murals, so let’s do it again! If you are interested in joining this fun effort, please read the details about submission requirements by downloading the file here.

We look forward to receiving your entry!

We have a new email address!

Please take a moment to update your address book with our new email address:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  We found we had to switch internet providers to be able to reach all of our membership list at one time.
